I have simple cysts. One is the size of an avocado. I had schlerotherapy to have them collapsed and cleared up. They grew back 6 months later. They cause me pain. I’d love to hear more about them, their possible origins, and potential negatives/treatment.

Thank you. Does eating cayenne pepper have any negative effect on the cysts? Thank you from the Netherlands.

Hi Doc. How is it determined that one has PKD1 or PKD2?

I also have a cyst in my kidneys. but the cyst is only very small about 10 mm in length and I've have it checked every year and so far it hasn't grown any larger in the last 3 years. What are my options to prevent it from growing larger or to shrink it in size. Thanks for your help Dr. Hashmi.

I am one of the 7% which is neither PKD1, nor PKD2. In my particular case it's a faulty IFT 140 gene that is causing the cysts.

Doc, can the cysts in Polycistic Kidney Disease be taken away by an internist doctor or surgeon? Why (not)?

Does 23andMe evaluate this gene? BTW-in order to milk the most out of 23 you must download your data and then upload it to a third party evaluator like GeneticGenie.
