Martin 00018 - before/after 72 hrs Tonerite treatment

Same mic position (maybe a little higher on the second one), same distance, same settings: no eq, slight compression and reverb.
Unfortunately during the 72 hrs I had to cut my fingernails, that's why on the "after" recording the highs are a little brighter :(

I purchased a ToneRite 3G in the summer of 2021 for a 2007 Gibson J-200 that I had purchased new and have been the sole owner of. The guitar was perfect in every way – except the tone. It has enormous bottom end but was lacking in the mid and upper ranges and I wasn’t hearing overtones like I thought I should. The biggest tell regarding the tone issue was that the guitar only sounded great when it had new strings – which is a phenomenon usually reserved for more affordable guitars. $3000+ guitars should still sound good – even when the strings are dead. So, after 2 weeks on the ToneRite, I put new strings on the guitar and it keeps sounding better and better the more I play it. Now it’s big and full and bright just like a J-200 should be. It has a very round and warm sound and I can now hear lots of overtones and nuance in the sound. The closest analogy I can think of is the “presence” knob on a Marshall amp: the guitar sounds like the presence knob has been cranked up. And, most importantly, it still sounds good even with dead strings. Is it all in my head? Maybe – but I’ve been playing guitar a long time and have played and heard lots of acoustic guitars from all price ranges, so my ears have been trained by experience. And to think that, at one point, I was considering selling this guitar – now it’s the furthest thought from my mind.

Can't say I hear a real difference, but this guitar sounded so fabulous right from the start that I don't see how it could be improved!

Transformed it into a warm, rich mature sound, instead of thinnish, boxy and new.

The tone right. The sound is round and full, and when played through my i beam, and di box to the pa it is fantastic.

To my ears, it sounded a little more mellow afterwards. Most of all, I enjoyed your playing!

Nice guitar & playing. From what I could hear in the video, It did sound warmer & more rounded after the Tonerite was used.

Does the rubber pad touches the tip of the guitar. Because i just purchased but the rubber pad is not touching the top of the guitar around 12mm gap. Will the tone rite perform or I have just wasted my money. Anyone help

I hear a huge difference. The huge difference is ironically a subtle one.. But its there. It much more resonant and warm afterwards. A whole new level? No. But certainly an improvement.

Noticed a big difference but also the mic placement in the photo has changed distance from the guitar

i hear a difference but the mic HAS to be in exactly the same spot. all of this was for nothing.

You changed the strings too. It's obvious look at then before an after. Lol

I hear a difference, but I also see the mic isn't positioned the same way. It's closer in the "after", not just higher. So not a good comparison IMHO.

How old is the Martin? I would think that the tonerite is used mostly on new guitars.

No difference. I wasn't considering buying the Tonerite because of where it's made—but had though of building something to do the same thing. Now I won't bother.
