Tom is my sun up go-to. I've not slept, I can either sit or wander as I check out last night's carnage.
Sipping from the dead soldiers that don't have cigarette butts in them, I start the slow, reflective process of making breakfast for people who won't be up for a couple of hours.
Other than a few snorers, the world is quiet. The birds are asking each other where they are, and that first solar wind pushing gently against my skin.
It's just Tom, vegetables, sharp knives, and a stillness in my soul that I don't often find.
