There is a paranormal place called skin walker ranch where portals opened and other strange things happened. It is in Utah.
Mel’s hole is most likely a similar phenomenon. Some distance down the hole there is a stable portal, a dimensional rift that connects to a different point in time. Mel reported hearing a baseball game on the radio from 1967 when the radio was near the hole.

They must install 4 wireless cameras with night vision or with flash lights inside a tubeless ball and a microphone and throw the ball inside the hole. Also installing to the ball some sort of wireless device that can measure the distance at it falls, untill it gets to the bottom. All of these must be recorded to a screen (laptop) 💻
