How a Gasoline Particulate Filter (GPF) Works

Diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and gasoline particulate filters (GPFs) are two types of emission control technologies used in vehicles to reduce the amount of harmful particulate matter released into the air. Both types of filters work by trapping and removing particulates from the exhaust gas of a vehicle, but there are some differences.

GPFs are a relatively new technology that are just starting to be adopted in vehicles. Though similar to DPFs in design and function, they are made with different materials that are optimized for the lower temperatures of gasoline engines.

I guess I'll turn on sports mode to increase revs and drive for around a half an hour.
P.S. Turns out, exhaust temperature can be higher on lower revs, so better check out instructions first.

Can you just take it out and make it look like its there to increase hp and torque without pissing off the computer? If yes, you could reinstall filter day of emissions test and immediately remove it again. If you live in state with no emissions testing, just store filter at home and reinstall when you're ready to sell car or truck.

1500 miles my eco diesel goes into limp mode in Louisville Kentucky going to a funeral in West Virginia. I have to stay a week lucky family there to get the diesel particulate filter changed. Haven’t had trouble since 😂 also haven’t used anymore def

So when this clogs it burns the valves. It’s a more restrictive faster clogging catalytic converter. SWEET.

My Suzuki with or without gpf has the same oil recomandation. Btw, a3/b4 oil has 1.6% ash level, c3 has 0.8%. Not a big difference.

dont cars have enough junk on them to break every other month & cost 15 to 18 hundred dollars to repair.its getting ridiculous.the people who design this crap didnt have any problems breathing.

Yes I don't know enough about how an engine works, but I'm here and trying to learn. So I was expecting a way to change a filter maybe every other oil change or something. But apparently there is only changing out the gpf entirely and must be done by licensed mechanic due to legality issues correct? This ensuring a thriving mechanic industry because if we peons could do this ourselves that would be too affordable. if the electronics in the car weren't enough of a catch fire, misfire, don't fire at all headache.
