As a manager, the one on one isn't for me to share information. The one on one is so I can have personal time with my team to HEAR THEM.

Some companies use one on one's for the benefit of the subordinate employee to discuss their concerns, not as another conduit for the manager's message.

I've been long on his company for eight years and continue to stay long in these crazed, troubling business times because Jensen is captain and steering this huge ship. He has phenomenal foresight and is always looking 10 years ahead, has the finest R&D, and is constantly focusing on opening up new markets. My trust in this company is my trust in him. He will never let Nvidia turn into a bubble that becomes another Cisco.

The problem with this mindset is then u have too many people attending too many meetings.. A 1 hour meeting can be simplified into a 1 or 2 page document by 1 person for 10 people.

This point has a lot of context behind it, I believe he talking about a business and product and technology strategy, not about 1:1 concerns about personal points. Although even those can be aired out within the team. If not, then why do people tell their headaches, mishaps and personal issues in public when planning to get time off, or someone to take over their work etc. And on a lighter note, he is welcome to tell us all how his bonus is structured.

Main point: communication. Eveybody knows and, as a result, less gossip. Eveyone is on the same page so no time is wasted guessing what's going on. Eastern vs Western philosophy. Working as a team. The parable of the Dragon boat race. 10 people rowing in sychronization vs. 10 individuals rowing by their own pace. The 10 person rowers all hear the caller at the head of the boat at the same time, so they all work in harmony, as opposed to the other rowers.
