She devoted her whole life to Helen, never marrying or having children of her own - but her legacy to the disabled lives on.

Ann's dedication to teaching Helen to communicate when most people would have given up, made Ann an angel and an inspiration. Ann made it possible for Helen to have a life instead of being sat in a chair in a corner like most people with Helen's disabilities would have been and Helen made the most of it. all of their hard work was not on vane and changed the way people with disabilities were viewed and treated and showed the world that it is possible for people with significant disabilies to have good lives if someone has enough passion and patience to work hard with them. I got to help and work with kids with a variety of disabilites when i was in special ed in highschool and it was the most rewarding experience I've ever had and it was an honor to be allowed to do so. Every time they learned how to do something they struggled with, it brought tears of joy to my eyes. I learned just as much from them as they did for me. Its always worth the effort, never give up on people with limitations!

I know our phones listen to us, but the strange thing is I just read a Helen Keller quote to myself & also thought to myself how we hear very little about the amazing Anne Sullivan. We don't usually give much thought to how remarkable it is that Anne Sullivan figured out how to teach Helen. What amazing creativity and determination it took to find an effective method, and what persistence Helen had not to give up. Incredible women!

I've read autobiographies on both women. Both women were extraordinary. This is an incredible find.
