Hate crimes are up in Massachusetts. What’s behind the spike, and how can we fight back?
Reports of hate crimes are on the rise in Massachusetts, according to a new report from the Anti-Defamation League, which found a 33 percent spike in reports from 2020 to 2021, according to the latest available FBI data. The ADL report also found a 41 percent jump in antisemitic incidents, and reports of white supremacist propaganda shot up by 71 percent in 2022, and called the state “a hotbed for anti-LGBTQ+ extremism.” Oren Segal, the vice president for the ADL Center for Extremism, joined Liz Neisloss to discuss.

Traci Jackson, Director of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Project for Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, joined Liz to discuss how the Queen of Rock and Roll inspired generations of musicians and bolstered awareness of the realities of domestic violence.
