Have you been considering the life of a general practitioner (GP) in the UK? Unsure of what it entails, or think it's your only option as an international medical graduate (IMG) in the NHS?

Dr. Ibreez talks from her experience of working with other IMGs to outline some of the common misconceptions and pitfalls many associate with GP training, and why you shouldn't be a GP if you hold any of these incorrect beliefs.

00:00 Intro
02:32 Being a GP is easy

05:07 GPs just refer to specialists

Hey Ibreez, I love how you highlight that choosing a specialty should be intentional and a choice to be taken after some serious thought and consideration, it's something that I deeply resonated with. Anyway, thank you guys, for taking the time to put out this valuable content for all of us:)

Well, I think the title should be changed to a Family medicine attending/consultant, "GP" title doesn't really reflect what these Drs are doing.

Could you do a video talking about junior doctor strikes into details? Is it also worth moving to the UK as an IMG as most doctors in the UK are now moving to the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia?

Thank you so much for this video. I really despise how everyone goes around saying that it’s “easy to be a GP”. 😅

And GPs typically work 1-2 hrs extra unpaid . There's no one to handover to

The sitting for low hours can ruin your back ( major cause of early GP retirement for healrh reasons);and cause weight gain

Hi Ibreez, been following you guys for a while & really love your content. I guess I've lost motivation to pursue any specialty after my internship ended. Do you recommend UK for someone who doesn't wanna specialize?

Hi! I’d really love some guidance. My husband is an EU qualified GP (with 4 years experience working as a GP). He is currently in the process of GMC registration. We have now seen he must also do an International Induction Program to get on the Perfomers/GP list. Do you know how long this takes approximately? I’d also like to know if this is only for NHS GPs or also applies to those wanting to work privately?

All the information is very confusing and any help would be appreciated!
