Level Up Your Hiking Maping with QGIS

This is a brief introduction to QGIS with some points about how it can be helpful in creating a map and prepare for your upcoming hikes.

I have been hiking and creating my own maps for years, thus far QGIS has had the best performance, far better than using Google Earth or closed source platforms.

Creating your own maps forces you to think and study your routes ahead of time. Using your own map in conjunction with mapping apps and GPS equipment could not only improve your way finding but actually save your life, just by virtue of knowing a bit more about what to expect.
