Hurricane Milton bears down on Florida

Hurricane Milton, which had weakened to a Category 4 early Tuesday, rebounded back to Category 5 strength in the afternoon, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Raj Mathai, Chris Chmura and Jeff Ranieri report.

I hope everyone in an evacuation zone is heeding the warnings and getting out. NO MATERIAL THINGS are worth your life and the lives of your pets. And yes, I sincerely hope and pray that everyone is taking their pets with them. There are many pet-friendly shelters listed online, and hotels as well. I'm so sick of seeing animals abandoned in these horrible storms, left to suffer and die, terrified, because their owners just turned their backs on them. Pets are a commitment for life - their life. They deserve better!
