A friend asked me to do a build for him. So I got his Dual Pentium II 333 overdrive set on a dual Pentium Pro intel PR440FX motherboard.

So in this video we try it out and I give an overview of the board. But it has some issues :(

Love the setup. I've been itching to play with a PPRO lately, I don't have all the stuff for my 6CPU unisys server yet to repair it, I'm considering getting one of these boards and tossing a couple of the CPUs in for fun in the meantime. These were great machines for windows 2000 back in the day.

you probably allready have it fixed but it looks like memory or ageing caps on the board causing instability.

I don't know Victor, my experience with memtest86 has been that it is quirky a lot of the time. I have had it lock up on even newer systems, some versions will lock up before they even start testing the memory. The intel chipset drivers that the version of linux being used on your version of UBCD might not be completely stable with the 440FX chipset either. You should try booting the system with Antix Linux and see how it works with that. I would also see if there is any bios updates for that motherboard since you are running the Overdrive chips, even though it recognizes them in the bios properly, there could be a bug in the bios revision.

What is the pin configuration on the motherboard to put 1 gig ram on the dual Pentium pro?

It's a shame that the ram isn't fast enough to keep up with the cpu. That's why I stayed with the 200mhz with the one m cache on each cpu. Works much better. I guess intel didn't think about the dual when they made the overdrive since on the single pentium pros it works without any problems.

they say newer versions of mem test crashes on older hardware. try using mem test with the 2.6 kernel.

Wish I had those CPU chips! I own an Hp netserver dual pentium pro with the capability of running quad pentium pro! Hard to get certain expansion cards to work without some messing around. Awesome computer my friend! Does it play duke nukem 3D in windows NT? LOL.
