One of the really fun parts of GMing is creating lore for your campaign. But how do you get that info to your players without boring them with 30 minutes of a lore dump? That’s what we’re going to discuss in today’s video.

I sort of stumbled into the practice, but I share lore as a story, either at the beginning or end of the session. Sometimes on the fly, if a character is doing some sort of lore/knowledge roll, I'll make up a story of their experience "You remember back when you were young, apprenticing as type stuff.

We're a pretty heavy digital table, so I then make a player friendly version of the story in our shared OneNote.

Additionally, I invested in WorldAnvil. Pretty decent product for the cost. Since I'm 100% homebrew, this is allowing me to create a Players' Guide to my world.

Yeah, NPCs conversing with the players should be the main source of lore dumps - lore books are more difficult to handle, because the information is more abstract (or requires significant work on the GMs part to make interesting).

But another good source is simple travel. The party is traveling through the woods. There are roads that become overgrown, or are blocked by fallen trees (used by someone to waylay travelers). The fires burning on those distant hilltops - what are they for? Could they be witches performing rituals? A guide might explain the significance further. And none of these sightings need to immediately lead to encounters. They broaden the picture of the locale the party operates in, and provide options for future adventures.
This makes the exploration component of the game richer and more interesting as well.

Probably some of the best advice a lore enthusiastic GM could get. Great tips!

3:00 i imagine the quality of the coffee was very low indeed, given that coffee wasn’t available to Europeans until after Shakespeare was dead.
