I'm not a beginning painter. I just had a rough day, and I'm here to listen to Peachy's soothing voice. :)

The person at Blizzard who had the clever idea to make 3D printable models should get a raise. The person who pitched the idea to have mini painters advertise Rumble by painting those minis…. They are a genius lol.

Never thought I'd see Halfords Grey Primer on The Painting Phase.

Peachy, Geoff and Pat are the real OG's!

The one thing to remember as a beginner painter is it’s only paint, it’s not permanent you can always repaint.

This is the most important advice for any new painter. Understanding and accepting the "ugly stage". Once you learn to apply criticism at the END of a work and not before its even been born you can start to improve and just plain have fun. I think 50% of all experience with minipainting and maybe any creative hobby is building up a tolerance to that "ugly stage" so you can actually create.

I am a complete beginner and am consuming so many videos and can honestly say this is easily one of the better ones, especially showing the facets of layering. Nice one.

i love how peachy takes the time to explain things in "laymans" terms. too often you see presetners just throw around terms that people new to the hobby dont understand.

I've been watching a lot of beginner tutorials lately and this is probably one of the better ones. You're not throwing out a million techniques a minute and mentioning things that might be easy but no beginner will be able to make proper use of. You go slow and show examples instead of speeding through the whole process. It helps that your final results LOOK doable from a beginner perspective, instead of like you have 50 years experience and spent 40 hours on a single mini.

I've primed a lot of minis by brush using Vallejo’s airbrush primer in black, works fine just needs more than one layer

Brand new to painting, I've watched a bunch of videos but this one by far is the most useful! I'm just about to go and buy my first lot of paints and put everything I've learned here into practice... Thanks so much

You can use brush-on primer if spray can outside and airbrush inside aren't options. Vallejo black primer (I think intended for airbrush) works really well for me. It looks a bit patch when it goes on and dries, but gives a perfect based for paint to go on. I find it better than spray in some regards, you're much less likely to over apply the primer and losing detail. It just takes longer than spray.

It's also really useful for getting the bits you miss when you spray outside. My go to is citadel Chaos Black outside, and then then the missed bits with the black primer.

I love that this video isn't just a random collection of technically helpful tips you need some context for, but is actually structured in the order the process usually goes.
Really adds to how useful it is!

Very much agree Peach - I've always been primarily someone who paints for the goal of getting minis on the table, but I can't deny the act of painting and listening to my favourite music/having films and shows on in the background has been massive for my mental health.
