I actually personally tried changing that very wording in wikipedia, but was blocked from doing so for dubious reasons by aggressive and biased users. It is really a shame that the proper information cannot be posted on wikipedia because it is blocked by editors who would rather resort to pejoratives than have the proper info on the wikipedia page...

It never made any scientific sense to ignore all the other data (pollen identification etc.) and focus only on the carbon dating.

About twelve years ago I attended a prayer meeting at Saint Thomas Church, Abercynon, South Wales, U K. There were ten of us present, including the Parish Priest, Fr Michael Cronin, RIP. At the end of the Holy Rosary, the Holy Face, of the Shroud of Turin appeared around the Crucifix, on the Altar. We all witnessed this wonderful vision, it is something that I will never forget. Thank you Lord Jesus, thank you.

Funny how faith works. I first saw the face on the shroud when I was nine years old. In that face I saw the face of Yeshua plain as day. No question about it. But I believe Yeshua did say you had to be like a child to see the Kingdom. I'm sixty six now and that face still feels like a calmness inside.

A documentary that covered this, also mentioned since the shroud was not only involved in a fire but was also stored in a carbon compound this form of dating can't be done anyway.
I wonder why this isn't ever mentioned. It also covered the pollen present in the shroud along with the flower impressions. Both are from the middle east.

I watched this documentary featuring Ray Rogers (RIP). It was so fascinating that someone who was so set on his initial findings had changed his mind. He did not let pride get in the way; he heard the argument out and tested it.

I can see why some skeptics still cling to the carbon dating debunking the Shroud. It's a lot easier position to take than admitting you've been looking into the face of Christ Himself and calling him a fraud. The beautiful part is that same face is looking right back at them saying, "I forgive you."

This is like at least one-year-old news. When they exam a proper sample of the oldest part of the Shroud, the original weave, then there will be news worth reporting.

First mentioned in 1354, the shroud was denounced in 1389 by the local bishop of Troyes as a fake. .. the Catholic Church neither formally endorses nor rejects the shroud.

All hypotheses put forward to challenge the radiocarbon dating have been scientifically refuted,

and the carbon monoxide hypothesis.

I just find the whole Turin shroud finding fascinating. Yes.. I do believe, just a 'knowing' it is genuine.

I always shake my head to any carbon dating. This is truly the burial cloth of Jesus, it is a no brainer.
