Nurses vote for 48-hour strike action during May bank holiday

Nurses in England have voted to stage more strike action at the start of May - after members of the Royal College of Nurses rejected their leadership's recommendation to accept the latest Government pay offer.

It could also coincide with additional strikes from junior doctors.

NHS chiefs in England warned that further industrial action would end up putting staff under even more pressure - leaving the health service facing its most difficult challenge yet.

I hope the Junior Doctors co-ordinate their strikes on the same days so that the NHS can be fully destroyed. Once bodies start piling up, that's the only way for more money to be given to the strikers.

Are you kidding me ?? Starting pay for a nursing assistant is £22, 000 a year, the average pay for a nurse is now £35, 000, then with qualifying levels goes up to £58, 000. I've worked in construction all my life I'm now in my 60's, I don't know what it's like to be paid £25, 000, I only dream of it. What we are seeing is a combined exercise by Labour and the Unions to bring down the Conservative Government, it's purely political. The Government must stand firm.

They are paid well above average, this is just greed. Minimum wage for a nurse is £30k. Maybe stop having so many kids and then expect society to pick up the tab when you get a divorce.
