In Valencia we are prepared for heavy rains, but we have never seen what happened on October 29th. It rained in one hour as much as it would have in a whole year. It was a tsunami. We were devastated by the water.

They urbanised the original river beds turning them into footpaths and parks, then created concrete canals (similar to the L.A River). With the unprecedented downpours the water flow was far more rapid than a winding river. And by the looks of the dead bury, the canals have not been maintained

This didn't have to be as deadly as it is. Natural disaster will always occur, but there is big difference between well-managed and ill-managed disaster. Meterology forecast predicted this weather. But people both high and low didn't take it seriously, many going about their business as usual. Of course, what is done is done. Now Spanish can only hope to save as many as possible and think of strategies to cope with future flooding. Because sooner or later, they will come.

I live around there and we went out on car to see the thunder because it looked amazing. Only did we know, we were on the middle of the flooding. It really was a wave of meters of water and we barely made it out alive, we were really lucky

It's not in the far south it's in the east of Spain

I didn't even see a video while it was raining. If it had rained 8 hours in a row continuously, people would have noticed by themselves. Why were people caught suddenly? Something doesn't add up.
