I made a Baby Yoda and it SUCKED

My most recent project was modeling and rendering a Baby Yoda of my own and it ended up being a failure... but that's okay.

As a tribute to the character on the Mandalorian show I set out to make a Baby Yoda. I started in Zbrush where I did all of the modeling and sculpting. Hair done with Xgen and rendered with Arnold in Maya. I also used Substance Alchemist and Megascans for some texturing. Enjoy the badness.

omg dude, you are way too harsh on yourself, the one you posted on insta is so full of life and amazing, maybe its not a perfect copy, but it has its own character and is one of them : )

just found your channel thru cyberpunk vid. Love the quality of your videos and I think ironically this video is really unique and loved your take on "failing" during the process.

Nice videos mate thanks alot!
Can I ask are you using the 24 cintiq ? or the 32? and how do you find it?
Thinking of taking the plunge, but have been burned in the past with going for the extra large tablets but yours looks a nice good size!

Hi! I was wondering how you made the wool preset. Did you make the fur on a uv’ed sphere and saved as a preset, and then applied it to the collar? If so, is there some groundrules/limitations which you have to be aware of? Im currently on a project with wool, so I would love to hear more about it!

So I have not seen The Mandalorian yet but here's my two cents. Creating a known character like this is mostly about capturing the correct shapes along with the proper proportions. When all the landmarks are close enough to the correct locations, the character looks right. Maybe take a good look at your reference and make a note of the shape of the mouth, the eyes, the ears, etc. What are the sizes of each feature when compared to one another. Regardless, I think you did an excellent job! Again, I haven't seen the show but I can't even tell he looks off.
