The ships of Navarino: a VR tour

The allied forces of Britain, France, and Russia destroy the Turkish-Egyptian fleet of Ibrahim Pasha in the bay of Navarino in the Peloponnese. The naval battle of Navarino thus decidedly contributes to the outcome of the Greek War of Independence.

You can virtually navigate on four of the warships with the VR app ‘The Ships of Navarino’ that was developed as part of the NAVS Project: Admiral Codrington’s Asia, the Russian flagship Azov, the French frigate Armide, and the Turkish flagship Küh-I-Rewan or Floating Mountain. Each ship is placed on her battle spot according to an historical map of the time and provides details about the battle as well as eyewitnesses’ accounts.

The Battle of Navarino exhibition section was developed as part of the NAVS Project under the co-ordination of Eugenides Foundation and the scientific co-ordination of the National Technical University of Athens, School of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering.
