My LAST Wave of TMNT Ultimates from Super7

Join Jay as he reviews Wave 5 of TMNT Ultimates from Super7 and why this will be the last wave he pre-orders from the California toy maker. Greatness and frustration can be found in Krang, Sewer Samurai Leo, Leatherhead and Ray Filet, but the flaws matched with higher prices may be too much for collectors to bear.

For 55 bucks, the QC issues are unforgivable. Super 7 needs to stop insulting their customers if they believe these flaws will be ignored

The only things Super7 are great at these days are producing renders that are better than the actual releases and making sure we get 5 extra pair of hands to justify their high prices.

I think it's a totally fair review, and I agree that Super7's "increased prices matched with inconsistent quality" has been an issue with many of their lines, not just TMNT. They make beautiful looking figures, but the quality control issues and the fact that so many are loose and don't stand well has really put me off on pre-ordering or actually being excited about their finished products.

Your opinion is 100%. Wave 5 was what made me also stop with preorders. Leo, krand, and Leatherhead have wobbly legs and undercover raph too, and the prices don't help either

Completely agree, paying $55 for Ultimates figures just doesn't make sense with all the QC issues and loose joints. I just recently snagged this wave on eBay new for around $40 each shipped. I think that's the price they should be at.

Appreciate the shoutout even if it was for that botched Leo I got. For the record Brian Flynn did reach out and replaced it for me. 2nd Leo was far better and the second head sculpt was different than the first when it came to paint apps under the head. It fit on far better.

I find it so disappointing that they removed all of the paint from Raphael's accessories, since the detail shown in the pre order images is what everyone expected to get when the figure eventually released.

I somewhat agree with your opinion. I can’t really afford the ultimates figures because I am a young collector but now it seems like most of the figures now are variants of the turtles which is what most of the vintage like was but it would be cool to see half court or even a scale tail.

Absolutely. I stopped earlier and decided to only keep the OG 10. Unlike MOTU Classics, I just don’t see a big enough difference between the Ultimate’s and the vintage besides size and paint apps. For others that might be ok, but for me, I need something more.

Glad to hear someone give an honest review instead of gushing over every figure and looking past or explaining away the imperfections. I collect the Super7 Ultimate line, but I am getting worn out with them all. Not sure if I will get the Wave 9. Anyway...great video

I couldn't agree more, the quality has decreased while the price keeps climbing. I don't think I will be doing pre orders anymore either I'll pick just the figures I truly want if they look goo once they hit my local stores.

I agree. Most of my Super7 figures have come after the initial release. There are too many questions about quality and price that keep me from wanting to preorder- even sadly with Leatherhead who was one of my favorite baddies as a kid.

I stopped at wave 4 for a few reasons. 1. I didn’t feel like I was getting the value anymore with the price increases and quality. 2. There is a lot going on with TMNT right now and I feel the better line is NECA. 3. The aftermarket price is a big deal bc the figures retail price is so expensive so if I can save anywhere from $5 to $15 a fig, I’m going to do so. Great vid and love the channel!

I only have the 4 Turtles but for me the poor/lack of articulation is disappointing for the price point. They do look great for a scaled up re-creation but quality of plastic and minimal paint on top of basic movement, feels like they should be priced closer to $30/35.

I’ve been up in the air on buying the TMNT Ultimates (so many reasons).

You make a great point on Ray Fillet with his body being painted and not cast in the color. That was an issue I had with my first wave of MOTU figures from Super 7. A figure had his accessories painted and not casted in the color, and of course paint chipping occurred.

TMNT and Thundercats both have their fair share of issues. I can't wait for to see all the fun issues we have with the Silverhawks.

Are the main 4 turtles and Splinter and Shredder worth it for about 44 ish?

I'm sorry, but why does that April figure look atrocious? That's the Ultimates version? Seeing the renders of it vs what I'm seeing in this video leads me to believe the QC drop happened long before Wave 5.

As someone else mentioned here. Unless they change things up, they’re going to go under.

I won’t name my store here, but I went from spending well over 100k a year with them to now all but nothing.

As you mentioned, there is practically ZERO secondary market for these things due to the countless runs and endless lines that they attempt to support. I can’t even get retail prices for these.

I won’t repeat the other points that you made, but they are all valid. It’s not good fellas.
