You can just hear the strength and sadness in Maisie’s speech. Her parents died because of the Crown’s lies and now she’s standing for what’s right.

This film has more morals than many animated films that came out in recent years.

When I first saw this scene in my camp, and she said “I HAVE EVERY RIGHT!” the whole class was like “oh my god” and I was like “the fact that’s she’s black tho” to me, it means that black kids can stand up for themselves and what’s right. I just love the scene and I cannot stop rewatching it.

One of my favorite parts in this scene happens just after Jake and Maisie hug.

It's when the General refuses to order her men to shoot at Red, sheathes her sword, and reveals that her own brother died when the Monarch was sunk, and that she's now *very* curious to know how that whole war started.

And the priceless look on the King and Queen's faces when they realize that they not only lost the support of their people, but also of their own military.

I cried and Loved this scene, and the way she said " I HAVE EVERY RIGHT!!" it Shocked me, and i just sat quiet watching it, and when she was done i CLAPPED and started crying :')

Replace the word beast with foreigner and the word hunters with soldiers. Then her words becomes more relatable to our reality.

Sing a song for Maisie Brumble! The girl who brought everyone to their senses and by whose word they were inspired to live peacefully with the monsters they once feared! She's definitely going down in history...oh, and update Captain Crow's song to reflect his efforts to change. Maybe he (and Maisie and Jacob, and possibly Sarah and others) can command sea beasts now? Plus, the kingdom needs new leaders. Good ones who lead with justice and truth.

You can’t criticize their opinions; You need to show them that there’s a better way to redeem themselves. You need to inspire them, just like you inspired us! You need to give them “Destiny”. And destiny is a gift.
Maisie: Destiny? Destiny?! How the bloody hell are we’re going to give them “Destiny”? You’re lucky you killed this deceitful human. But how do we prove everyone that the kings and queen are actual liars?
