No Vacation began their journey in 2015 with a pair of successful mixtapes that quickly established an identity of twangy nostalgia and cruisey shoegazing. Over the years, they've been able to keep the quintessence of their sound - a calm, warm, exuberance draped with Sab Mai's signature subdued vocal style, Nat Lee's classical string and piano background, and Harrison Spencer's distinct shoegaze guitars. In addition, James Shi is on drums along with multi-instrumentalist Alex Togashii on Synthesizers & Cello. In 2023, the band went on their first tour post Covid which all sold out and reunited them with their fans. This show at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall was their first performance of 2024. The band showcases their instrumentally dynamic, multi genre live set that calls on the sound of shoegaze, 90s alt rock, and Romantic Era string arrangements. Good band that I met in 2017, I was just in a difficult moment since that year my father left and I fit in perfectly as I felt, their melodies that mix happiness, nostalgia and melancholy accompanied me in the last years of university.

I saw them in Portland last weekend. Props to the sound guy. Everything sounded so crisp, clean, and precise. It left plenty of open space for all the instruments to be heard simultaneously. Harisson's guitar tone was phenomenal. Bass was powerful distinct throughout the whole frequency range (jazzmaster, I think). Luna Li was very impressive as well. Many players that night were multi-instumentalist which was refreshing to see. Its nice to see people play when they actually love what they are playing.

Met some of the band members at some donut shop near the Sinclair in Boston (tickets were already sold out at that point) and they were so nice to put me and my friends on the guest list. That night was so amazing, thank you🎉

i understand why beach bummer isn't included within this video but I would have loved the rewatch it! the performance had some technical difficulties but was still awesome! bummer :(

No Vacation’s first Audiotree video is something I’ve had on my playlists for years. It came out on my birthday and I loved it.
