I unbox a copy of The Art of the Dragonalnce Saga, originally released in 1987. The Art of the Dragonlance Saga collects the art from the novels, calendars, and game products. This is an extremely rich collection, with sketches, paintings, drawings, and studies of beloved characters and settings. It is also full of artist's notes, character development, and explanations of the ways in which the books and the art coevolved.

1:49 that's the one that I hope I never forget. Sturm gave the knight's salute, and the Dragonrider returned it

I loved browsing this book as a kid. Didn't read a word. The pictures made my imagination run wild...

As a kid, this book was actually my first introduction into the 'Dragonlance' world. I still have my copy today, as well as a later re-print version. When I was given this book as a gift, I dove into the art as well as all the information alongside the art. I treasured every single page and every little detail of story, however, the unfortunate downside of this was that it 'spoiled' some of the significant story moments from the 'Chronicles' trilogy when I finally got around to reading them about a year or two later...

I own that. Got it in the 90s. It is so worn and used. Love it and continue to love it. Thank you sharing.

Great find. I've owned that book twice. It is why I do fantasy art today. The first time was in 1988. A couple years ago I did an airbrush rendition of Clyde Caldwell's Dragons of Dreams. My next one will be covered on my channel here on youtube, if you're interested. It will be "Dragons of Light" by Larry Elmore. These artist are truly masters of fantasy.

For a favorite image from the book I would have to go with "The Ransom Note" by Larry Elmore. It's the one depiction of Laurana that gives her the perfect beauty she's described as having in the novels (you could absolutely believe the woman in that picture is the most beautiful woman in the world), and it is just such an emotionally powerful piece that so perfectly conveys her love and concern for Tanis.
