20th Century Studios/Blue Sky Studios (2023, What If?)

Back on April 11th, 2022, Netflix announced that they had picked up Nimona for a release on June 30th, 2023. DNEG Animation re-animated the majority of what was left, with the final result being a memorable send off to Blue Sky, with some references to the company here and there. It was also well received with audiences & critics alike. But what if an alternate reality happened where Disney didn’t shut Blue Sky Studios down, and DNEG Animation & Netflix weren’t involved in the film whatsoever? What if it was just simply delayed like the rest of the films in the early-2020’s decade? And in this scenario: what if they released it as planned? Well, the opening logos would’ve probably look like this.

20th Century Studios logo is visually sourced from West Side Story, with a custom audio mix outsourced from Avatar.

Blue Sky Studios logo is sourced from Spies in Disguise, with another custom audio mix sourced from both Ferdinand & Spies in Disguise.

Taken from Ferdinand Visits Rio (Lucy’s written up a film title in her diary / ‘Ferdinand x Rio’ crossover)

ROLE: When Lucy’s bull Ferdinand gets captured in a crate of hay, when another farmer lids on him, a transportation unit sends Ferdinand to a Brazilian cattle farm near the Amazon Rainforest. Blu, Ferdinand, Jewel, Uno Dos Tres & Cuatros join forces to stop a major deforestation, which the government said to construct new highway roads in order to develop future ideas.

SCENE 1: Ferdinand was on the loose terrified, tearing down trees for all birds/animals/species’ homes, and even dashing on a roseate spoonbill pond.

SCENE 2: Lucy makes friends with Tulio.
