Why Salerno Italy Deserves Some Love

Millions of people come to the Amalfi Coast of Italy every year. Many of them move through the city of Salerno to get to towns such as Positano and Amalfi. More of them should devote a little time to getting to know Salerno. It has history and charm and beauty, all its own and holds up well in comparison to the Coast's more popular destinations.

Take a look at this video and you will agree that Salerno should take its position on the list of places to visit in this part of Italy.

Having retired in 2023, I now travel full-time, seeing places all around the world. My idea for YouTube is to make the videos more about the places and people along the way, than about me. I hope that the experience for you is both entertaining and educational. Perhaps you will come away from my channel with ideas about places you would like to visit or be inspired to forge your own way.

I travel slowly, spending four or five weeks in each destination. Hopefully, that will allow me to go beyond the surface to find the essence of each location. By the end of 2024, I will have visited 14 countries and five of the seven continents. Come along for the journey!

Seriously, we're going to be in Salerno in less than 3 months, it's our home base for the second leg of our Italia 2025 trip, after that, we're renting a car and driving to Larino, the village, or comune, where my paternal grandfather was born, and then to Termoli before driving back to Fiumicino for an overnight stay near the canal and the sea before our flight home. We're staying a couple of minutes walk from the grocery store you're in front of at the end of the video, it's the closest to our apartment.

I’ve just watched your excellent video on Salerno.
I will be travelling alone to southern Italy in March 2025 and passing through Salerno.
My objective is to retrace the route of the Canadian Allied Forces during the WWII. My father participated in the Italian Campaign.
I have done a considerable amount of research, but just wondering if you had any gems you’d like to share.
