CERN Particle Physicist Dr. James Beacham's research focuses on unlocking the secrets of the Universe. We talk Dark Matter, Dark Energy, how the Universe started, how the Universe will end, if there's a Multiverse, Magic Numbers and if the Universe is made of math.#profoundlypointless #exploresomethingnew

Apologies to Dr. Beacham, the audio and video start to drift out of sync due to a recording program error. We tried to fix it but could not.

Profoundly Pointless is a podcast created by Nick VinZant. Each episode explores something new with a unique guest from a different side of life. Amazing cadence where the rapidity of his thoughts was an unbroken stream punctuated by a depth of knowledge.

I subscribed for this interview alone. I looked at the rest of your stuff and it's not for me. That's not a slight, it's a compliment. I enjoyed this one piece of content you made so much I decided to subscribe to show my gratitude and in hope that someday you make something for me again. Let this be a lesson, you need not try to cater to the masses. Make quality stuff like this and people will follow regardless.

I love how a precise, rigorous way of speaking seems to be a second nature for Dr Beacham :D I laughed out loud when he said he "probably" won't live for 10^35 years <3
awesome guest and a great interview!

Low key crushing on Dr Beacham. I’ve watched his Royal Institute lecture at least a dozen times. Almost have it memorized. ❤❤❤

This video needs 5x the views. Great guest and topics. Keep it up

A great guest. So clear, concise and sufficiently fulsome in his explanations. Including of mysteries!

19:58 I was always worried about that. You say ALL or your particles will need 10^35 years but what if I just lean my foot against the wall and only a part of it gets stuck in that wall after say... just 1 year...

I'm blown away by how few views this channel has compared to the garbage that gets millions.... this is incredibly intriguing.

Outstanding run through where we’re at at this moment. I never took physics at school, took history, which is still my first love. However the last ten years I’ve been turning to physics and astrophysics as a way of grounding myself. These kind of videos are an excellent way for a layman to get thinking about the BIG questions.

After an entire childhood and adolescence spent following the whims of the youtube algorithm, I've finally made it to the final frontier; The YouTube channel 'Profoundly Pointless'. What a fitting name too.

Time is fascinating. I worked the subway stations for nearly 10 years. From one end of the city to the other. Every so often I would notice the city would be saying that, "Today just flew by" or "The day was just dragging along."  How can an entire city complain about the same time paradox unless it was effected by it. Maybe a time distorted bubble the earth passes through in its revolution around the sun. Maybe random waves of time distortion hitting the earth? Maybe they're randomly given off by the sun. Maybe they're from outside our Terran system and reach us in intervals. ???? Ti-i-i-ime, is on my side. Yes, it is!

I love the fact that, given the scale of the Hadron collider, he has a broken drawer...🙂 Great down-to-earth description of what is a profoundly complex subject.

Another problem with time travel, at least for humans that live on earth, is that going back in time just a few minutes will land you inside the earth or in outer space. This is because the earth is moving through the universe relative to everything else, so it won't be it the same place. The more time that passes the further you will end up from where you want to be.

When James says the universe is made of math I can literally watch the hosts mind be blown. And it felt like looking in a mirror

Dude, this is a jewel. Such documentaries are hard to get and you got this for us. I'm shocked at the small amount of subscribers or likes or views. I firmly believe it is a matter of time. Please, go watch some videos on how Dream got subscribers, or even Mr Beast himself; there are detailed analysis videos on the strategies they followed to reach those numbers.

I'm grateful for your content and please continue! Don't give up, it is a matter of time!

Hope you remember me, as you 800-900th subscriber, when you reach 100.000! :)

It's very good of Dr. Beacham to keep telling that it's not important for us to be able to know the "details", because I repeatedly failed in being able to understanding details when in skoole.

In high school, I liked to entertain the idea that gravity is instead more of an emergent property of a particle displacement within a field, akin to how a submarine experiences inward pressure under water. I am very excited to go to college and learn more about the workings of the universe. I want the ability to challenge my assumptions with fact and observation.
