I started to ask myself is it possible to kill a hog with a pellet gun. I have a hog hunting trip next week and started wondering if my crossman storm ct .177 pellet gun would work for hunting a hog. Or if my umarex guantlet .25 pcp airgun would work for hog hunting. I wanted to test different pellets to find out which airgun pellet is best for hog hunting.

First I had to make sure a pellet gun would kill a hog by using pellet gun ballistic gel to test the pellet gun penetration. The ballistic test has some crazy results! After shooting through a hog skull some airgun pellets still have over 8 inches of penetration through the ballistic gel!

I test the Benjamin domed pellets, the polymag predator pellets, the king heavy diablo mkII pellets and the grizzly slug pellet. All of these are .25 airgun pellets and I find out the best .25 airgun pellet for hunting.

I don't think you should try to kill a pig with a .177 pellet gun. It does seem like it's possible to kill a hog at point blank with a .177 pellet rifle, but I would not recommend it. The ballistic gel showed a very small cavity. The umarex gauntlet looks like the best cheap airgun to kill a hog. So far the umarex guantlet is my best pellet gun for hunting.

So can a pellet gun kill a hog? I would say yes! 100% A pellet gun can kill a hog! Whose ready to see some pellet gun hunting! I have some awesome air gun hunting videos coming out so stay tuned because the South Florida Fishing Channel is going to get a little muddy!

Great video. As a hunter and competitive Flintlock shooter for 60 years. I’ve went to pellets about 10 years ago. .177 is a great for small game and vermin. I also limit my kill range to 25 yds with my .177 and .22. At age 90, I don’t hunt anymore but still target shoot out to 75 yds.

I have a friend who almost died getting shot with a 177 pellet a friend of mine shot him in the back not realizing how strong of a gun it was and you couldn't even fit a nickel between his heart and the round his lung collapsed but he is still alive. He went on to join the Army and get shot at for a living

I use a bb glued to a crow magnum 25 round ..I call it my penetrator round it blows anything they sell away at 31.6 grns flys straighter than an arrow and hits like a sledgehammer

I made my own hard hitting pellets. I have .177 with a BB glued to them. The .22s have pellets that have BBs glued some in the shirt, and some at the tips of hollow points.
Not only do they hit extremely hard, but they mushroom out flat. They hit so much harder you can hear it.
The cool thing is when I have shot them through 1/2 inch wood into another board they end up totally flattened with the BB still stuck in the middle. They look like sunnyside up eggs with the BB yoke and a lead egg white.
FYI If you do it be careful not to get the glue on the sides of the pellet.
