My understanding. At least for me. I understand what an oligarch is, let me explain to you how an oligarch becomes an oligarch. An oligarch becomes rich and powerful because he receives power through the political system. In the US people like Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk, and the schmuck from Facebook became rich and powerful through tax breaks and, favoritism for their support in Congress, and the US presidency. However this is not new. Way back in time in Britain Henry the 8th of England wanted to consolidate his power. His opposition at the time were the monasteries, and the Catholic Church they owned land. He had to destroy the credibility of the Catholic Church, so he could take their wealth. So what he did he promised his friends, and Influential people within the monarchy, if they supported him, and destroyed the monasteries they could take the monastic land for themselves. They became aristocrats. An old name for an oligarch. My simple understanding.
