academic background not matter, matter is that what is your interest area to build career as per interest.

Yes true, many people confuse Programming with Engineering. Even the 10th pass can program the computers. Programming does not need any type of degree. There are companies out there that need programmers to automate computer systems.
But make sure you should be super good at logic and understand DSA.
Again, do not confuse Coding, Programming, Software Development, and Engineering.
