How Neil Armstrong's Moonwalk Changed History

Neil Armstrong made history on July 20, 1969, by becoming the first man on the moon, but he didn't brag about his experiences on Apollo 11. Facts surrounding the historic mission are more well-known than the story of the man who took that first step. Armstrong was such a soft-spoken and levelheaded guy - he might have been forgotten if it weren't for his accomplishments in space travel.

Unlike his outspoken crewmate Buzz Aldrin, Armstrong refused to become a celebrity or take advantage of his fame. Neil Armstrong facts reveal a lifelong commitment to flying and acting for the greater good that earned him an opportunity as an astronaut.

Remember when Buzz Aldrin punched that documentary filmmaker for questioning him about the validity of the Moon Landing?

Wow, the integrity of a person who is passionate about their craft rather than the rewards they can receive from it.

So the guy that the world has deemed a hero, turned out to be a modest and humble servant to the mission and mankind. shoot.

The Moon Landing is one of, if not the, greatest moments in all Human History but in my opinion the Apollo 13 incident and return is at least as amazing.

It’s interesting how so many things could have gone wrong for the Apollo 11 mission, and yet it was able to make history with the setbacks.

Another interesting fact about Neil Armstrong, he carried a piece of cloth from the wing of the Wright Brothers plane they flew from their first flight in his pocket when he went to the moon. It is on display at the Wright Brothers museum in the Outer Banks with certificates of authenticity from Wright Brothers estate and NASA.

I actually met Armstrong on the job. He was fascinated by the information products produced by Information Handling Services, my employer. During his tour, he stopped by the Engineering department. He talked to several of us.

Regular guy. Easy to talk to.

There were many opportunities to promote different companies. I don't know how many were endorsed, but IHS made the grade.

It seems like they were on a mission as equals and didn’t think taking photos was important.

Fun facts: His full name was Neil Alden Armstrong. If you spell his first name and the initial of his middle name backwards, you get "Alien". Buzz Aldrin's mother's maiden name was Marion Moon and she committed suicide one year before the Apollo 11 mission.

Last time I was this early, the earth was flat and the moon was an Astral body that man dreamed of.
