Indians invented it in 2nd century, not in 5th. And they developed it as a perfect mathematical entity able to stand on its own. And developed all the algorithms/rules on how to do calculations with it.
The script is known as Bakshali manuscript and is in an Indian museum where people can still see it.

People have to understand the "concept" of zero at its most basic form was technically made by sumerians first but indians were the one who truly evolved it and brought out its usefulness that it has today therefore they get most of the credit as they rightfully earned
