On Veterans Day 2011, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels and Michigan State University Spartans will be playing for a special kind of trophy in the first Carrier Classic.

Newport News Shipbuilding, the Navy's sole supplier of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers was tasked with designing a trophy that replicates our country's greatest warships.

What started with a design and small mock-up may become one of the most treasured trophies the NCAA has ever seen.
