2022 Audi A3 | Needs More Flair

We review the new 2022 Audi A3, a next-generation entry-level luxury car with clean lines and a no-nonsense attitude. The sedan is slowly fading in favor of the CUV, so does Audi pack in enough to make this stand out? Others to consider are the BMW 228, Acura TLX, Lexus IS, Genesis G70, Mazda3 Turbo, or Mercedes A class.

This channel is multi-tasking. I came here for a premium car review experience and now I'm receiving mating advice to hunt down a 45% chance divorced cougar.

You absolutely hit the nail on the head when you said " This is the interior that should be in the Mk8 GTI/R, and something nicer should be used for audi" 100% agree, but when you look the the refreshed cars on the MQB platform you can just see cost cutting everywhere you look.

"Time to get this car out on the road... and get cancelled" lmao

This is why I watch your reviews. All other “journalists” just say what Audi want’s them to say, you say how it is. Thank you.

This current A3 is an exercise in cost cutting. The previous A3, specifically the facelifted ‘17-‘20, had superior interior plastics, better integrated virtual gauges, sport pkg that actually came with the base S3 sport seats and flat bottom steering wheel, rear exhaust tips, GTI performance brakes (‘19-‘20), and a 6 spd DSG that actually responded. What a disappointing step back

It's bananas to hear you guys saying that this car is $42K, and that potential buyers are looking for alternative commuters to Civic/Corolla. I remember when Corvettes and Boxsters were $40K! And nowadays, that's apparently enough to buy you a car where about the nicest thing you can say about it, is that it has "a non-frustrating interior". It's good to hear that competition really seems to be offering more choices to customers though. Appreciate the straight dope from SG as always, and I wish a Happy New Year to the SG gang.

Finally, no more fake exhausts, the price is a little too much especially considering that's not a s3 but I'm from Romania and here this car in this configuration would cost a few thousands more than in US so it's still a decent combo overall.

Wow 45k for this particular car is just ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing in this car that can justify 45.

It’s almost weird that Jack is the perfect companion to Mark in terms of reviews

This car makes me sad. The last gen car had high praise from day one.. inside and out including driving dynamics. I truly feel like Audi/VW group are kind of lost on their cheaper cars! Love the honest take, boys!

Just one thing guys - at 3:30 you said that the aluminum subframe meant that there was less unsprung mass - but there isn't. The subframe holds the suspension, but is definitely part of the cars sprung mass. The only parts that are unsprung are the masses at the wheel points- hub, brakes, part of the suspension arms, etc. You've made this mistake before, which is why I point it out. The primary benefit of the aluminum subframe is less overall weight and possibly (probably) it being stiffer/more rigid than a stamped steel piece.

Other than this, I love you guys - keep up the awesome content! :)

I drove the 2024 Audi a3 recently and I got on the highway 🛣️ and it’s a joy to drive and I think 🤔 it’s a great commuter car.

For over $40K, I’d lean towards a base A4 Premium w. convenience package, car play, heated seats.

I like the generation before this one much more than this gen. The older ones look better inside and out. The only way to buy this car is to get the RS3 with that amazing 5cyl.👌🏽🔥🔥

I never thought I’d say this, but I’d buy a new Civic over this. I can’t see any appeal to the A3. It’s offensively inoffensive. Bland from head to toe. It’s fine. It’s not luxurious. It’s not sporty. It doesn’t look particularly interesting. It’s expensive. Don’t get it.

That intro music was smooth Mr Goose. Always liked the Audi A3. But I don't think I would choose a base A3 it over a High Spec Mazda.

This is mostly a leasing/rental car in Europe. With Golf mk8 being the fail it is, this will attract some Golf buyers and that's it. No need for more flare in my opinion. At msrp in US, this must be a very tough sell.

The A3 Sedan has always been a tough sell. Might as well spend the extra for the A4. More space and a better interior.

The only reason to get this over a civic or mazda 3 is just the badge

People really complaining about this car. If you like it, you like it. Some people prefer the new design over the old one. Simple as that. If you want to pick the Mazda or Honda, do it. But there are many others who love the new sporty and upgraded design.
