This movie is based on a book called the Moon and the Sun (1997) by Vonda N. McIntyre, combining both science fiction and historical romance genres. Fun fact: it won the Nebula Award for Best Novel, triumphing over Game of Thrones. :) It goes without saying, the book is highly recommended! ☺️

Somehow I like that this film has those 2010 vibes.The plot is fun, the French settings are gorgeous and the whole romance/adventure vibes are something I rarely see in films nowadays. So despite it being a little cringe at times and the low cgi, I feel a sense of nostalgia watching this film and truly enjoyed every moment. <3

Oh my God, I remember reading Kaya's IMDB page like 5 years ago and it saying this movie was in production 😆 It's finally here. Doesn't look like someting I would personally enjoy as far as the genre goes but it has Kaya Scodelario in it, so it must be watched.

Things I like about this trailer: the general premise, the fish-out-of-water story combined with a literal fish-in-water story, some of the shots are pretty. Things I don't like: the palace costumes, they could have done any amount of period gowns and they choose 0:39, which feel simultaneously modern and outdated, plus her gown doesn't really stand out from the crowd, for a fantasy land, it's boring. Also, I don't know much about the love interest, but he seems boring, if they don't kill him off for shock value, I'll probably be disappointed. I do like the fish girl, though, it would be cool to see more of her; I hope she's an actual character and not a macguffin. The editing and words of the trailer look very 2000s straight to dvd, so I hope that changes as well with future trailers. Also, Julie Andrews? 0:52?
