For more than 20 years, the 5-axis cnc machines of the portal series from Pfronten have set standards in the field of precision mechanical engineering. A world without them is no longer imaginable, even outside of metal cutting production! The semiconductor industry profits from lithography machines whose components are manufactured on high-precision portal machines. Automobile manufacturers can develop ever more sophisticated car body molds because they can rely on 5-axis portal machines as the backbone of automotive tool and die making. The aerospace industry achieves unprecedented part quality thanks to full technology integration of milling, turning and grinding, ensuring maximum passenger safety. Thanks to 5-axis technology in large format, portal machines ensure that hydroelectric power can be converted into energy. Mechanical engineering also benefits worldwide from portal machines from Pfronten, which repeatedly demonstrate their performance in demanding machining operations such as gear production. With over 1,400 Portal machines installed worldwide, our customers are working around the clock to ensure that tomorrow's world is a better one than the one we live in today.

As a carbon steel drill bit for over 50 years, this video really hits home for me, amazing!

The precision to grind gears with no mechanical interlink is just insane.

That transition from all CG to real footage at 4:22 is SO perfect!
I get to see machines like this everyday and yet i still watch all the marketing videos. Our marketing team is getting so good at these videos.

As a tool and die apprentice forty years ago, I could have never guessed where the industry was headed. I'm in complete awe. Some of those moves would have been impossible to replicate back then. And some of the rather "simple" stuff shown here would have taken us days to just set up.

You have the prettiest overall design of any of the big CNC builders. The white and black is so slick.

What an insane feat of engineering. Congrats. As a mechanical engineering student these presentations get me pumped. We have a MiniMill at my Uni and I love watching even that work. Can't imagine the things one could do with this at their disposal. The possibilities are endless.

man... i do not watch TV, Series, Sports or similar, only very few channels on youtube really hooked me up - and the ones having videos that really touched me on a life-impacting level usually dont provide regular content. yet here i am, almost crying in joy, downloading this clip to cut it down to a new screensaver - replacing another dmgmori promo clip... the amount of brand attachment you have caused to my teenage soul is beyond any reasoning

I was in in charge of our company’s first 5 axis machine purchase and did the programming . 15 year 5 axis veteran. The thing most people overlook is “How robust is the Post” Then the question becomes do you have a post and simulation for your level of tool path software? The last thing I wanted to get into was Post development that then belonged to someone else. If you have a proven post and simulation that reads from code (Not from Toolpath) this machine will be a winner.
Great video

I... I don't even understand how awesome this machine is but I want one, looks really cool and powerfull. As a 3D artist, holy jesus this video, secuence, models and as a whole is really awesome, congrats to the people who build and animate this thing in 3D.

This was just a random recommendation from YT. I dont even know why you need this, but I WANT ONE! XD

The VFX team must have sweat 💦 till production, details are amazing Good modelling & Animation really appreciate it. & Ofcourse literally machine is a Godfather.

Just one thing I didn't see, Coolant never saw anywhere cutters using coolant system would have been great if added during post production. It is what it is right

If possible release the machine file for testing purpose.

I have no idea why this video was in my YouTube feed since I’ve never even seen such a machine. I can imagine how difficult programming it to do what you want - must take weeks.

I saw a tool like this at Textron Lycoming in Stratford CT back in 1986. It was a LOT bigger and couln't move around anywhere near as much, but it was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen :)

prestigious cutting-edge design, engineering, and manufacturing. first saw their rigs "live" at FABTECH a decade prior. their machines and the photolithography EUV creations by ASML are not of this earth. keep hammering DMG MORI!
