Peter & the Wolf (Polish: Piotruś i wilk) is a short Polish–British–Norwegian stop-motion animated film released in 2006. Written and directed by Suzie Templeton and scenography by Marek Skrobecki, it was made in Se-ma-for Studios in Łódź and has been shown in cinemas, sometimes with live musical accompaniment. The film won the Academy Award for the Best Animated Short Film at the 80th Academy Awards.

The film is based on the story of Peter and the Wolf as set to the music Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. Unlike the usual version of Prokofiev's work, the film has no narrator but relies on music and images to tell the story. A new recording of Prokofiev's music was made to accompany the cinema and television release. The recording was made by the Philharmonia Orchestra and conducted by Mark Stephenson.

I watched this in first grade more than a decade ago. Never found what it was called. Today a core memory has been rediscovered🎉🎉🎉

A really good short film. Sad for the duck. His eyes were amazing. Well done to the animator!

As a child you wonder how some people can be so cruel; as an adult you understand that some people are just like that, thus you savor every moment of joy, innocence, and triumph that greets you. On a side note, I completely forgot about Peter's pardoning of the Wolf.

When I first saw this when it aired on tv years ago, I loved it.

There was aways something about stop-motion films that
really captivates me.

While it was devastating for the duck to die, however, I truly love how both Peter & the Wolf showed
real respect towards each other at the end of the film.

I say that this is what Disney miss out on when they made their rendition.

I quite like that they changed the ending to Peter letting the wolf go. It's a great way to teach kids that the wolf was not evil, he was just a wild animal doing his thing. The humans on the other hand all wanted use the wolf in cruel ways or just kill it in cold blood, and peter realised that afterwards.

I think that makes this timeless story even more timeless.

I feel like I'm one of the only ones who didn't get traumatized by this. Ngl I loved this since I was a kid.

This traumatized me as a young kid aswell, I understand every single person here that was terrified by this watching it back in the early 2000's lol, people ask how, it's probably because it's a very eerie art/animation style, weird movements, the bald butcher man at the end is creepy as anything, the wolf eating the duck was scary because we bonded with the duck in the beginning and the eating process was shown and it was slow, horror lol

My first encounter with Peter and the wolf was a CD of the original symphony, along with a narrator's voice telling the story. Me and my sisters would listen too it many times as we would go to sleep and this was really cool seeing it in visual form

More than a decade ago, I watched this movie. One scene that stuck with me was the wold eating the duck.

For some odd reason, the duck being eaten was a lot more gloomy and more scary as a child.

As a kid, I remembered listening to Peter and the Wolf with Alec Guinness (Obi Wan Kenobi) as the narrator. When I came across this years later, I really find it so brilliant that this short film lets the narration take a back seat and only uses Prokofiev's music itself to tell the story. It's haunting, scary and a beautifully done animated film!

Peter is truly a good boy. Angry at the wolf for killing the duck, but decides that revenge is not worth settling things, so he forgives the wolf and sets it free. Only Peter is capable of humanity than any of the other characters.

One thing I really like about this version is that the Wolf isn’t a monster or ate the duck just because it could. It did it because the Wolf a is mother and she ate the Duck so she could provide food for her pups.

This is probably the darkest version of Peter and the Wolf ever done
