Показать описание
This video provides an introduction to the UN Datathon 2023 which will take place from 3-6 November. The UN Datathon welcomes participants from around the globe of all ages and backgrounds, as long as you have a basic level of data science experience. If you are passionate about data-driven solutions at local and global levels, and eager to contribute to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this event is for you!
In this first UN Datathon Webinar, we explained the Datathon’s background, objectives, and the dynamic partnership between the UN Youth group and the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics. Participants met the organizing partners who contribute to the success of this global initiative and received information on the mission of the UN Datathon and its commitment to advancing sustainable development through data-driven solutions.
During the UN Datathon, participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with others and develop innovative data-driven applications, tools, or statistical models using geospatial data in combination with other data sources. Participants have the option to join remotely (most common) or to participate in-person. They will have opportunities to engage, either online or at the main venue in Montevideo, Uruguay and at the satellite venues in Brazil, China, Rwanda, and the United Arab Emirates. Winning solutions will be given the opportunity to partner with international agencies and scale up for real-life application. Specific prizes can be won by the best youth team.
