Still think it’s cool how shenron threw in “a little extra” for piccolo. Pretty sure that it’s the first time in the series where an eternal dragon gave some one a freebie.

Nice to have Piccolo become more relevant in dragonball again, especially with the dragonball super superhero movie. Dragonball super superhero is without a doubt Piccolo's movie. Orange Piccolo is a great form for Piccolo, and allows him to compete with the saiyans again. It is strange that while Piccolo does train to get stronger, his most significant power increases has always been because of shortcuts, such as Namekian fusion and a wish from the dragonballs, but I won't complain since Piccolo finally gets his own transformation.

I really like the idea that the fighters are all tapping into different god powers:
Goku - angels
Vegeta - hakai
Gohan - kais
Piccolo- Zalama/dragon balls

Piccolo with his Potential Unleashed (Ultimate Piccolo) has black nails, while his Base form has white. His nails stay black in Orange Piccolo as well as his Antennas facing upward. Besides him losing the many ridges in his arms, those are some really cool micro changes in his transformations. Like the color of the eyes in certain Super Saiyan forms.

Just a thought, I think it would be great if its revealed that this orange form is ONLY obtainable by certain Namekians using the Dragonballs in a great time of need. As if the dragon is preprogrammed in the creation "spell" to grant this power when the need for power is great.

I get a little annoyed with people calling this form a "shortcut" or "unearned". We literally see in this movie that Piccolo is spending all of his free time (when not being a dope uncle to pan) training. Still training, still encouraging Gohan to train. What exactly do people mean by earning a transformation? Having a rage moment? Why is getting a free transformation when rage moment just because you're born a Saiyan "earned" but this is not? Piccolo has more than put in the work to be this powerful, and if he were a Saiyan he would have been already. And now we find out his race does in fact have a culturally relevant method to bridge that gap and its not "earned" enough? That's nonsense. The dragon balls are Namekian in origin. Kami designed shenron and dendei continues to maintain them. Piccolo getting a power boost from something derived from his own origin and powers is ENTIRELY VALID. Way way more so than Gohan studying bugs or whatever for his entire adult life and then getting an equivalent power boost because he got mad for ten seconds.

Nice to see Piccolo actually get his due. Loved him in this movie, and I’m hoping maybe the orange transformation is something he can perfect/build on like the super saiyan forms!

I don’t think Piccolo would just wish to be stronger for the hell of it. Goku and vegeta were off world at the time and he knew the looming threat of cell and androids would be too much for his current power. He made the choice and it worked out in the end.

i really hope to see in the next arc of the manga or in a movie, goku and vegeta reacting to beast Gohan and orange piccolo, maybe doing a 2 vs 2 fight, training together etc.

As far as I know, the official name of Piccolos more yellow form aka the first new form he gets in the movie, is called Power Awakening. Which makes sense because it isn’t the same thing that Gohan got in the Buu saga, but it is immensely similar. Dragon Ball legends just released a few new cards from the movie a little while back and that’s what they called it there, and the other DB mobile game is how we got the official name for Blue Evolution Vegeta as well. So I think as of right now, Power Awakened or Awakening is the official translated form name.
