Věž Kotnov a Bechyňská brána

Věž Kotnov je dominantní památkou na hrad, který zanikl požárem roku 1532 a na jeho zbytcích byl v letech 1612 – 1613 vybudován pivovar, který procházel stavebními úpravami až do 20. století. Hrad „Hradiště“ byl založen jako součást hradské soustavy ve 2. polovině 13. století za vlády Přemysla Otakara II. pravděpodobně Vítkem z Hradiště, synem Vítka z Prčice, slavného zakladatele rodu Vítkovců. Podle nejnovějšího výzkumu se hrad pyšnil dvěma válcovými a dvěma čtverhrannými věžemi, které tak napodobovaly kastelový typ hradu. Věže však téměř nevystupovaly z hradebního obvodu a byly tak od počátku oslabeny ve své flankovací schopnosti. Dochovaná věž byla v době husitské zesílena a přizpůsobena pro dělostřelecké baterie; zajímavostí jsou odvětrávací komíny v dělových střílnách. Věž vysoká 25 metrů je dnes přístupná jako vyhlídková a vede na ni 155 schodů.

What has remained of the Kotnov castle, which burned to the ground in 1532, is its tower. Between 1312-1613 on the ruins of the castle, a brewery was erected. From then on, its main building and premises underwent reconstruction works several times until the beginning of the 20th century. The Hradiště castle was founded as part of  system of castles in the 2nd half of the 13th century during the reign of Přemysl Otakar II. The founder of the castle is believed to be Vítek of Hradiště, the son of Vítek of Prčice, the famed father founder of the Vítkovec family line. The latest survey showed that the castle originally was composed of two round and two square towers, thus imitating the castellum type of a castle. The towers, however, were located inside the castle perimeter, therefore, their flank purpose was diminished.  The surviving castle tower was fortified during the Hussite period so that cannons could be put in place; an interesting feature of the cannon embrasure are ventilation chimneys. The top of the 25 metres tall tower is accessible for visitors after scaling 155 steps altogether.

Der Turm namens Kotnov ist das dominante Denkmal einer Burg, die durch einen Brand im Jahre 1532 zerstört wurde. Der erhalten gebliebene Turm wurde in der Zeit der Hussiten verstärkt und für Artilleriegeschütze angepasst. Interessant sind die Abluftkamine in den Schießscharten. Der 25 m hohe Turm ist heute als Aussichtsturm zugänglich, wobei 155 Stufen hinaufführen.
