Here is the Solo Stove in the video

Lots of people wonder if a Solo stove is really worth the money. I can tell you with no problem, it is! Trust me I’m not blowing smoke up your butt because this Joycees approved product doesn’t create any.
Just in case you don’t believe me, let me drop a little solo stove knowledge on you. See These holes at the top push out preheated oxygen, creating a hotter fire while burning off smoke at the same time. Here’s how the magic happens.

When you light your fire the combustion process creates a vacuum. The vacuum that is created sucks oxygen through these holes at the bottom of the solo stove fueling your fire from the base

At the same time heated oxygen travels up inside the double walls of the solo stove delivering a boost of oxygen into the top of the fire. This hot oxygen is what burns the smoke and is otherwise know as the secondary burn

If you want the best chance of getting this secondary burn here's some tips.

Make sure your wood is not stacked above the top vent holes. As you probably guessed this blocks out that ever important hot oxygen that boosts your fire.
Get that wood out from the center of the solo stove. Instead let it get as close to the walls as possible. The hotter the double walls get the hotter your secondary oxygen gets and once again that's the stuff that burns that smoke away.
So crack a beer, throw a log on the fire, and say goodbye to smoke in your eyes. You won’t be disappointed with the Joycees approved Solo Stove.

Love the design of these! Only negative for me is not being able to see the fire as much anymore.. I’ve always enjoyed daydreaming while staring at the fire

Why's it when I watch this, I get flashbacks of watching Good Will Hunting and Walburgers? Could listen to that accident all day long. 😊

That's one hot fiy-ah! I have a small SoloStove and the problems I have are it's difficult to get the "secondary burn" if you have it filled up so it will burn long; and if you don't fill it up much so it can breathe and get the "secondary burn" it burns like hell and essentially creates a jet flame (with no thrust), but it burns so well that it only lasts like 5 minutes once it really gets going. Adding any pellets to it just messes with the oxygen flow and you end up with the exact opposite of what you want: a bunch of embers that produce a hell of a lot of smoke.

I thought it was meant to channel tree sap smoke from the bottom to the top for combustion

how does the smoke burn tho?
Isn't it just carbon?
Carbon can't burn, hydrocarbons do.

My problem is all the heat goes directly up

These are much nicer to be around if you recess them down into a hole in the ground, as they don’t deliver much heat thru the sidewalls. Probably the most important part of the “science” is that they also limit the amount of primary air fed into the bottom of the fire…

It's not odorless you still smell like smoke and wood when you go inside the house

So if everybody buys one of these we will run out of oxygen. Great.

I’ve been around them and there’s still smoke. About 50% not worth it
