Lemme just say, people be hatin on cardio too much. It’s helping me A LOT. I do in fact keep getting stronger on my lifts, while having my conditioning improve and I do look leaner as well.

Not saying to do 1 hour cardio workouts… but what I’ve been doing of anywhere from 15-30 minutes of cardio (not including the cooldown; mainly in the form of stationary bike HIIT or rowing) has worked like a gem for me so far. Only time I’ve ever been in better overall shape was back when I played hockey.

Linear deficits are great, but I highly recommend carb cycling to maintain performance in the gym and lbm. It helps reduce insulin sensitivity, metabolic adaptation, constantly resets leptin and ghrelin levels, helps flush water. There's a reason why competing bodybuilders follow carb cycling leading up to competition. Slowly decreasing cals and increasing cardio due to stalling will ensure some lbm loss.

I biged your videos right now. And finally someone who i can absolutely agree with on all points. I was pretty buff and low bodyfat in my 20s. By using exactly this oldschool down to earth approaches. Also i trained a couple people aswell. It always works!

Now after a really long break (6years) i am getting back into lifting. And i will do it exactly the same way! Guys this guy knows his stuff. I hope more people see his videos and get off thos overloaded crazy splits.

I’d say 1 pound per lean body mass. If you have extra body weight via fat eat the amount of protein for your goal weight if you’re trying to slim down at the same time. If you’re already at you’re goal body weight then eat at 1 gram of protein per pound. A 250lb guy starting out in the gym doesn’t need 250 gram of protein to succeed .

What's your opinion on what Mike Mentzer says about 60% carbs - 25% protein and 15% fat? According to Mentzer the muscles are made up mostly of water and carbs and that protein intake leve is excessive. Why is your opinion different? I am curious since I recently learned of Mentzers take on this

Pretty sure your protein intake that equals your body weight...1:1 or more...is based upon your estimated ideal body weight at 10% fat. If youre 200# with a BMI of 25 or 30 then you don't need to match it to 200#.

I say this because not too many people realize how difficult it is to eat 200gr of protein per day. It takes commitment and effort akin to what you're doing in the gym. I like to eat and thought it would be easy AF. It wasn't.
