The water tank on the cooking fire is handy as you can boil seawater for salt until you get the distiller. The hide armor is waterproof unlike the leaf armor so is a good upgrade so you dont have to worry about rain, plus the added damage resist against animals. The issues then arise when you get to the next location and have to deal with heat exposure as well.

Oh, you need to fish for fishbones to make needles to make your leather armor. Save your broken/near exhausted needles because they can be used for crafting there is a hide portable shelter you can build for the next zone.

Clay is limited in the first island. There's a clay pot in the mountain and two or three clay lumps. In the jackals area there's six or seven clay pieces, and that's that. You need a clay pot for the campfire and another for the chemistry station, the water distiller, and you need to make the coal-something station. There's enough clay on the island for these things with some spare, but don't... Make the rain collector. Ah, well, just got to that part of the video. The next thing I'd spend survival points on is Learning 5. I say this because I didn't do that and I regret it deeply. Learning 5 will help you get points for the other stuff faster, and by "faster" I mean less glacially slow. I also recommend you go diving to get algae and coral. There's an insect repellent you can make with it that I suspect will come handy soon.

Yes, you can fast travel between areas if you have a dock in that area

You can mine/dig clay on copper island, the next location, from termite mounds. On Hope island you just have a couple pieces to make the kiln, and a couple fire pots.

Kage, you get the log holder on the raft not the canoe after you fully upgrade it. I also found it a lot more efficient to build the water distiller on a foundation over water. You can just get the seawater through the floor and then dump it into the distiller.

The upgrade button is at the top of the screen, on anything that can be upgraded. you will not get the clay back. think of it as baking it in the clay, you cover it with clay and bake it on the fire. you would not be able to reuse the clay after that in real life. Also, you will get more clay a little farther into the game so I wouldn't worry much about it. I haven't found myself running out of anything so far in my new game.

When you are in a workstarion screen. There will be a list of actions at the top of the screen. Like the clay kiln you have "fire" "slot" "crafting" fire allows you to add more fuel whenever you want. Slot is the thing you are actually working on amd crafting is the stuff you can make. You might also see a tab called "upgrade" which will show up when there is an upgrade available so you dont have to destroy a workstation to upgrade it. You just hit "upgrade" and then it will need all the extra resources you will need to add on top of what you get from the base workstation. Clay will be needed for consumables. There are clay mines in the next region (as well as termite mounds you can also shovel some clay out of).

Are you getting "Home" bonus in your new workshop? If not, you won't be able to craft in the dark without the injury penalty so you'll need lamps or to change the building. The next region has one of the biggest challenges in the game - overheating. Some tips that will make the region way easier but also major game play (not story) spoilers ahead.

I suggest skipping most of the animal hide armor (the bag and belt might be worth making) and going straight for seaweed armor which has much higher durability and most importantly 100% heat protection. The easiest way to tackle the Buffalo region is as follows. Note that steps 2 and 3 can be done in any order but I suggest doing step 3 at night and step 2 in daylight.

1. Fast travel there and explore the ship wreck that is near the fast travel point. Also make sure you brought the supplies to build at least one dock.
2. Next, travel east towards Copper Island (you should see a Cartographer tree from a long ways out to aim at). Before you get there, on the west side of the big island there is a large rock in the water. South of this rock is some Horseweed (Halymenia) on the sea floor. I found it very tricky to find as it's pretty spread out, small, and not very remarkable looking. You need 5 Horseweed minimum to make seaweed armor but an additional 2 will eventually be needed for the Catamaran boat. If you can't find enough at this spot there is another large rock on the southeast side of Copper island that has horseweed to the south of it. There is one more spot south of a large rock southwest of Red island as well.
3. You need a few resources from Copper island. I suggest landing at the small beach on the west side of the island by the fishing spot. You can build a dock here but it will take some work to make it fit so the boat can actually dock to it. Close to this beach is a Cannonball tree and some termite mounds. You need at least 2 strong branches from the tree and 6 termites from the mounds. Best to collect all this at night using a torch. Remember, once the torch is lit you can equip a different item and as long as it's on your belt you'll still get the light and benefits.
4. Once you have 5 horseweed, 2 strong branches, and 6 termites you can fast travel back to your home. Outside the inlet are some large rocks with under water "caves" and around these you can find Hydrilla on the sea floor. Gather at least 5 and head back home.
5. Make the loom, make 5 pieces of Seaweed fabric, then make a full set of Seaweed armor. As a bonus, this gives a skill point! The Seaweed armor gives 100% heat and sun protection.
6. Take your 6 termites and make 2 Treated Formic Acid. This will cure overheating on the off chance that you somehow get it despite the armor protection.

Now you're ready to head back to the Buffalo region and get exploring without having to hide in the shade all day or only work at night. If you prefer to minimize travel, you can bring supplies to build a cart, charcoal or charcoal pile, and a smelter. The copper ore weighs way less once smelted down to ingots so personally I process it at the story camp before loading it on the boat. Also, you'll need a feather quill and ink for the quest.

Interactable objects, like workbenches, have various tabs!!

Before you leave that island, don't forget to explore some of the rocks around this island. There is a shipwreck and a tall rock island that has some stuff on it that might be useful.

Yea Kage no more Clay on hope island go to red or copper island to find the clay deposits/termite mounts and you can always sail to and from easy if you make a new dock on the other location to travel between regions also hope island is best to place the farm plots because of all the rain

Buffalo Region is ruthless with the sun on Copper Island but you can negate it by just sleeping and going mining / shoveling pottery at night. I'm playing on tourist mode just to get the hang of all the buildings and potions / weapons upgrade next i plan to bump it up to the hardest level to really see a challenge because my copper spear melts the teuga and cheetahs on tourist.

@31:45 yes you sure can. you just need enough space for your current ship

next region has A clay deposit while using machines the tabs at the top you can switch between so you can add more fuel to fires so you dont need to let it burn out. you will need to fish for the bones to get needles. yes fast travel works between regions.

that workshop has a great potential for extra storage on a loft like upper floor.
stuff you need in quantity that otherwise has a long shelf life.

@Kage848 when you get to the buffalo region you will find a lot of clay
yes, you can travel between 2 or more docks, it doesn't matter which region they are in

You should have just build closer to the main house.
Feels like in the movies when they drive up to the house and stop like 30m away and walk then, instead of just park closer to the house😅
