Signs and symptoms of Dengue fever

Dengue without warning signs:
Fever following travel to endemic area:
Flu-like febrile illness with marked myalgia &/or arthralgia
Diffuse maculopapular rash
Leukopenia
Positive tourniquet test (petechiae after sphygmomanometer cuff inflation for 5 min)

Dengue with warning signs → the above plus:
Abdominal pain &/or persistent vomiting
Fluid accumulation (ascites, pleural effusion)
Mucosal bleeding
Lethargy or restlessness
Hepatomegaly greater than 2 cm
Increased hematocrit with rapidly decreasing platelet count

Severe dengue → progression to:
Severe plasma leakage causing shock or respiratory distress
Severe bleeding
Severe organ involvement (AST or ALT ≥1,000 U/L, impaired consciousness, organ failure)
