Most people are lazy and won’t look up the fact that the only other times there have been explosions in the TN legislature was for felonies when a Representative was taking bribes in order to kill a bill from being brought up for a vote and for sexual assault allegations against a member.

The fact that Republicans didn’t give these 2 young men due process and went for the most extreme punishment possible rather than a censure and removal from committee assignments (which would have been more appropriate for breaking decorum rules) speaks volumes of racism. Their own GOP member is on video pushing Justin Jones and knocking his phone camera from his hands and he received no punishment. The white woman Representative broke decorum rules, too, right along side them and she was spared expulsion.

This has shown America in very stark terms that there are 2 systems of punishment, even in our legislative bodies. This blowback will be a stain on the TN Republicans in the next election.

Justin Pierce’s comment about who wants to be spoken to in this way should go viral. As a female in a male dominated environment I have been spoken to so many times in a patronizing way by older white males. God bless this amazing young man for speaking the truth to power. May your star be ascendant! You are exactly what this country needs!

I really admire both of these young men as well as their female counterpart for really exposing the fractures in our democracy. Every voice is important, even at that level, and their voices should be HEARD if other elected officials are able to have their voices heard subliminally yet POWERFUL. The squeaky wheel ALWAYS gets oiled, regardless of political affiliation or method. As Americans, we really need to see this as it is. If these two legislators can be expelled, ANY legislator CAN whether we agree with them or not. Let’s hear EVERYONE as long as it isn’t violent. Be WILLING to take a step back, hear what is being said, and act accordingly. AGAIN, if it isn’t violent, which this WASN’T. It wasn’t a January 6 situation where people lost their lives. If you listen to how the House talked to both Justins, it's like an angry parent telling a kid they're grounded. Just shows you how LITTLE the GOP cared about the TOPIC of the protest and how MUCH they cared about punishing powerful, young voices ✊️

As an educator, I salute these three individuals for standing up for our children. This is the reason people elected them. Thank you for working for your constituents. I pray for a day to come when educators do not have to feel like liars for telling students they will be safe in their seats at school.

I'm praying that these two young men are the future of government in Tennessee. Speaker Sexton was so quick to call these two young men terrorists for using a bullhorn and so quick to expel them. However, Speaker Sexton was one of two votes to keep a bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest, the man who was a founding member of the biggest domestic terrorist organization America has ever seen. Forrest was accused of a massacre of Black and White Union troops that had surrendered. Under Forrest blacks were whipped by the KKK in attempts to intimidate them into not voting. This is the man Sexton wants to see when he goes into the Capitol every day. Thank goodness they removed the bust.

I am so proud of all three of the #TennesseeThree and so very grateful they are so brave, dedicated, persistent and just good, decent people who care deeply about other people, about our state and democracy itself. I hope that we the people of Tennessee will join them in calling for democracy in place of the current tyrannical one-party rule that abuses its power and silences any voices of opposition.

The Republican supermajority has vilified these Representatives and any citizens of TN who dare to speak up against any of their policies. And their policies have been harmful to the people: denying healthcare to 400, 000 low income Tennesseans, enacting a total abortion ban, attacking the arts and education and environment, day after day.

The TN GOP is turning our state into a place of draconian hateful laws and immense economic inequality. We have high childhood poverty, high infant mortality, high numbers of uninsured, very low wages and low low education funding. The state is honestly an authoritarian mess and the GOP encourage cruelty and hate, as they did during the student protests this past week. TENNESSEE MUST CHANGE.
