Hi J, loved Story's thought that HK will be quiet and calm. I think she's in for a culture shock, haha! Been here nearly 30 years and it is much less full on than previously as the 'West' has been spouting HK is no longer safe. I promise HK is 1001% safe and still has a great vibe with many islands to visit. We live on Lantau Island and take a ferry to HK island / Kowloon when we want the bright lights and buzz but are happy to chill in Discovery Bay most of the time with the family. I'm sure all is under control as you have been many times, but, as I've just retired and at a loose end, if we can help, then you only need to shout. Have fun Martin & Luzviminda.

I went to Hongkong back in 2016 and I really enjoyed my trip to Lantau Island. Story would love the cable car ride that has a magnificent view of the ocean and the mountains of Hongkong.

Internal flights aren’t always expensive, we recently booked flights in the Cebu pacific sale and Davao to Boaracay was 694p and then Boracay to Siargo was just under 1200 pesos, travelling in March then family will meet us for a vacay in Siargo and we will drive us back to Davao. Sometimes the Cebu Pacific do 1peso or 100peso flights! You just need to keep and eye on the website. Take care and enjoy HK! We did our honeymoon there in 2011 and enjoyed HK Disney and Ocean Park, both were amazing! The subway was easy as all signs in English and Chinese.

Enjoy your trip to Hong Kong. You are so fortunate to live the life you do. You are living in a paradise. Lucky you got out of UK when you did. The country is going down the pan. You certainly wouldn't enjoy walking around London now.

Why not make Cebu your hub for international trips? I believe that's what you did when you went to Japan. Flights between Siargao and Cebu are shorter and cheaper and the airport is more pleasant and less chaotic. Cebu is pretty much well connected now though flight frequencies are still limited compared to Manila

100% As a Filipino, it outrages me that I have to pay more to go to places domestically than to go abroad. For sure, there is a reason behind it, but it is Bonkers. Even outside the summer season, the Siargao Fair is just too much!

That's coz flights to and from siargao are not very frequent I think. Therefore more expensive. Make MNL your homebase for a few weeks and then fly out to Palawan or Siquijor or somewhere else and it'd be cheaper
