Thomas Edison's Light Bulb

Thomas Alva Edison perfected the first commercially viable incandescent light bulb, giving a sensational public demonstration of it on December 31, 1879. The light bulb and many other inventions were developed at Edison's laboratory in Menlo Park, New Jersey, which many consider the first industrial research laboratory. Later Edison moved his operations to West Orange, New Jersey, which is the current site of the Thomas Edison National Historical Park.

In my history 110 class, my professor explained to us that Thomas Edison did not "invent" the lightbulb. In fact, the lightbulb was created in the mid 1800's but it was Thomas Edison who worked on the lightbulb and made it more efficient.

Lewis Latimer is the one that invented the carbon filament and even invented the process to make those filaments. Thomas was stuck on the paper filament

Technically it’s legally correct to call it Edison’s lightbulb BUT he is NOT the inventor.
The only bright idea about it that came from Edison was the marketing and employing those like Tesla who were intelligent enough to do the actual work .

Thomas Edison purchased the patent in 1880 for the lightbulb and then He had a team work on how to improve it and make it better.... he in no way invented it.
