Final Fantasy XV (15) Alternate Ending Cinematic. This is the Alternate Ending cutscene to Final Fantasy XV unlocked in Episode Ignis Chapter 3, Verse 2, played on the PS4 Pro in 60fps, also available on PC, Xbox One X. Having arrived at the Altar of the Tidemother, Ignis finds himself surrounded by the empire. Ardyn then lays before him two options: come along to Niflheim, or get swept beneath the waves. What sacrifice is the young tactician willing to make to save his dear friend Noctis?

Chapter 3. The start of where the story diverges is when Ignis chooses to play along with Ardyn, who will transport him to Zegnautus Keep, where the Crystal resides. Ignis finds out who Ardyn truly is and his motive. Ignis will battle him using the Ring of Lucii which he pocketed at the Altar. He fails as the magic in the ring is exhausted, and you have three choices here.

1) Give Up - which gives you a Game Over screen.
2) Risk my Life - which just repeats the previous battle, but ultimately ends the same way
3) Sacrifice my Life - which unlocks the true potential of the ring, increase the damage multiplier limit from x10 to x100

Ignis defeats him (but not finally, since Ardyn is immortal), but will soon die. Noctis and crew are able to get to Zegnautus Keep via the aid of Ravus. Noctis uses the ring and Crystal to heal Ignis including restoring his eyesight. During the ending credits, it shows scenes and events with the party since Noctis went into the Crystal early. He still returns later in Chapter 14, but this time Ravus is alive to greet them before the final battle.

At the end when Ignis comes to greet Noctis on the throne, there is no audio of what Ignis says, but you can read lips you can see he mouths: "Your majesty."

I imagine Ignis walking towards Noctis’ throne and saying “I’VE COME UP WITH A NEW RECIPAAAYY!”

When I first played through this, my immediate reaction was, “Wait... You’re telling me that, if Ignis has just done something different, I wouldn’t have had to cry for 20 minutes?”

After enduring the 5 stages of grief over these guys, YT recommends me this. This ending healed my heart, cleared my skin, saved my crops, and added 10 years to my life. This ending is the only ending I'll accept!

Not gonna lie, this ending feels like a colossal kick in the balls.
As if to say "Hey, can you imagine if things didn't suck?"

Ravus fulfilling his promise and giving Regis's glaive to the one he finally recognized as his king...Noctis. This brings joy to my heart in so many levels

I feel like Ignis is almost like a second father to Noctis after seeing his story.

I always find it funny to see many of Western people (me included) react to sacrificial endings in Japanese storytelling.

Japan and the West have different views on happy endings. In the West, life is the happiest of gifts one can have, so living happily ever after and not dying is considered a happy ending.

In Japan it is the opposite. To them, life is simply a trial and Death is the culmination of all of life's trials, where one is measured by how he conducted himself in life beforehand.

TL;DR: In the West, our form of a Happy ending is to live with honor. In Japan, it is to die honorably.

From what i've read. Ignis found a way to defeat ardyn without noctis dying. It didn't state how but it worked and noctis became king and alive

A little late to the party, but the original ending had Ignis Blind, Ravus and Noctis dead. Alternate ending had Ignis with sight and Noct alive along with Ravus. I prefer this ending after having the heart-breaking original. Got a taste of both outcomes so it's not a question of choosing a favourite one. It's just appreciating the whole experience. But i definitely would feel devastated had i not seen the alternate outcome. A what-If scenario that would ease the trauma of the original haha.
