You could of cast further if the rod is facing the right direction using the rod's backbone correctly. The way you cast is like you trying to throw a ball backwards as compared to the front.

Depending on the casting your doing each rod casts weights differently with the length of the drop from tip to the weight. Use an empty beach ( nobody there as if you snap off you can retrieve the weight and you don’t kill someone ) and try different casting methods also use different length of the drops for each different weight . You will find a certain drop, weight, cast method and rod will come together. Put different colour tape on the rod to indicate the drop you need for that different weight.your comfortable with punching overhead then try off the ground casting . One to try is say you got a 3 ft drop so if your left shoulder is level to the rod base and rod the tip is on the floor with the drop tight and towards you lying on the deck . Feet together and as you step to cast raise the right hand hard up as your left arm cranks down hard ( all in one movement ) will increase your casting up another 1/4+ more. Also get into the habit of the shock leader knot at the base of the spool, if it’s any higher you run the line into the knot which impacts the casting distance
