Chinook helicopters by the Boeing since 1961... What a legend....used in Vietnam war ...so many varieties... almost all the air forces have them...to be around for 6 decades is truly something...👍😂😍

Not only still great to see after being around for so many decades, but i love hearing them approaching from afar, That distinctive bass throb that IDs the aircraft still thrills me as it did when i was a boy. I'm now 57 & marvel every time i'm lucky to see + hear 1.

Oh my God, I still can't believe that a rotor that big can spin so fast, that's just so amazing. I just pray that I'll be one of the fortunate ones to fly some of these great inventions in the future.... I thank those that put there time in saving there country, you all are my role model.RESPECT✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

I just love the sound of an engine. No matter what type, from a tractor to a beast like this. Lovely.

Each blade is a miniature wing in itself may be to provide high lift.interesting to see the the blades assume concave shape during lift off.

4:00 such an awesome sight. Actually kinda neat seeing that crewman out the rear hatch.
So awesome watching them spin up. Such incredible lift and all held up by the rotor shaft. Great concept having 2 counter rotating rotors equally rotating shaft driven together for heavy lift.

they have a really small airforce but still very impressive

Me trying to understand what level of coordination Exists between the two blades

4:15 The rotors look like they're overlapping. How do they prevent them from hitting one another? Are they both connected together with a shaft and gears or something, so they stay in synchronization?

That Chinooks fly is amazing, that Chinooks are as fast as they are is miraculous. Remarkable engineering.

I used to see these as a child and ask "why don't the blades hit" and I only found out fairly recently, after long forgetting that curious question as a child, at 35 years old, when I was told there is a shaft joining the engines together, so like an IC engine, the camshaft(s) and pistons are timed never to hit (unless of course your chain or belt break).

I wonder how they balance the collective between the two rotors.
