Wow, I had no idea the Riverside was THIS versatile! It captures the sounds of those classic pedals and quite frankly exceeds!

At the Drive In. I never thought I would ever hear someone use them for a demo. Awesome.

I first thought that this was an interesting choice of pedals to compare, but I then realised that it is common to find a rat next to the riverside.

This is by far the best side by side demo on Youtube for the riverside, very helpful. It sold me on the pedal. Would be great if you tried some other pedals against it. Thanks

The Riverside is one of my favorites! It has a lot more gain on tap than a lot of reviews don’t show! It actually makes you (me) want to play MORE, the tone is THAT 💣🤘🏾💯🫡

seems to me 1 strymon pedal did and matched 4 other pedals....I'll take the Strymon

It's interesting that you attempt to emulate these other pedals.  I demoed the Riverside at NAMM 2018 and spoke to some Strymon guys, who were adamant that this is a unique distortion tone, not a model and not based on anything else. It covers a huge range of tones (as shown in your video) and has an infinite sweet spot.  After demoing, I bought one.  Couldn't stop thinking about it!  I've got it plugged in to my Hughes & Kettner and it sounds amazing.  It's also great for recording  in the loop of my Helix.

Yes! Loved that you started with an At The Drive In
Riff!

I've owned the Riverside now for about 4 months and love it. I wish I had 3 or 4 favorite switches...

Great comparison! Thank you. I think it matched well will all of the pedals. To me the Rat still sounded a little fuller with more pronounced low end but close enough. Riverside looks like a great will they release a larger version with more presets? I might wait a little while longer.

The riverside did a pretty good job matching the tone of most of the pedals, but the Klon had a really airy top end at the riverside to could not seem to match that. Was this video done with the high end switch on the back turned to the plus position or the neutral position?

I'd have to do a controlled listening test to be sure, but I think each individual pedal was more idiosyncratic (trebly?) than its respective Riverside imitation.

However, that's a misleading consideration, because the Riverside is likely the most versatile out of the whole bunch. It has its own voicing and shouldn't be expected to fully copy any individual pedal. I've seen other videos where the EQ was used for more dramatic effect - here it's kind of mid-heavy throughout, as Sam Knaak noted. Drastic smile EQs apparently take you further into modern metal territory.

The low gain and high gain switch seems like a good compromise between individual Fender and intense Marshall/Mesa channels.

I like the Riverside clarity. More hifi

Hi! Great demo! Quick question... How many decibels of boost can the Riverside do on the volume with minimal gain?
